Duties and Functions of BEM FAI UMM

The Student Executive Body of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (BEM FAI) serves as a central organization facilitating student development across academic, social, and personal dimensions. BEM FAI consists of five departments, each with specific duties and functions to support the overall vision and mission of the organization.

1. Department of Scientific Studies and Strategic Action (Kastrat)

Main Duties:

  • Provide platforms for students to analyze, discuss, and understand societal issues.
  • Advocate for strategic actions based on Islamic values and student aspirations.

Functions:

  • Organize periodic forums, seminars, and discussions to address relevant societal issues.
  • Conduct research and compile data on current issues as a basis for action and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with external organizations to expand perspectives and share insights.
  • Empower students to take a proactive role in addressing societal challenges.

2. Department of Student Resources Development (PSDM)

Main Duties:

  • Support students’ personal, academic, and leadership development.
  • Enhance organizational capabilities and nurture student leadership potential.

Functions:

  • Organize leadership training, workshops, and personal development sessions.
  • Conduct mentorship programs for academic and career guidance.
  • Evaluate and monitor the performance of student organizations to optimize productivity.
  • Develop initiatives to promote collaboration and teamwork among students.

3. Department of Social Welfare (Kesos)

Main Duties:

  • Advocate for and respond to the welfare needs of FAI students.
  • Provide support to students in need through financial aid and resource allocation.

Functions:

  • Manage student welfare programs, including scholarships and emergency assistance.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and the faculty to address welfare-related issues.
  • Organize social campaigns to promote solidarity and empathy within the student body.
  • Establish support mechanisms for students facing academic or personal difficulties.

4. Department of Interests and Talents (Minbak)

Main Duties:

  • Identify and nurture the diverse talents and interests of FAI students.
  • Provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills and abilities.

Functions:

  • Organize competitions, exhibitions, and talent shows for students to express their capabilities.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to refine students’ academic and non-academic skills.
  • Facilitate student participation in external competitions and events.
  • Act as a bridge to connect students with professional networks in their areas of interest.

5. Department of Media, Communication, and Information (Medkominfo)

Main Duties:

  • Manage the communication and information flow within and outside the organization.
  • Ensure the visibility and branding of BEM FAI through digital and traditional media.

Functions:

  • Develop and maintain digital platforms (e.g., social media, websites) for sharing updates and announcements.
  • Create promotional materials, including posters, videos, and infographics.
  • Collaborate with external media partners to enhance organizational visibility.
  • Act as the primary contact point for communication with stakeholders.
