Islamic Family Law Department aims to produce scholars with Bachelor of Laws majoring in Shariah, Law and specifically, the Islamic Family Law. This program has attempted to produce experts who have academic and moral integrity, special expertise of legal advocacy and Islamic law since 1989.
This program was established in February 9 of 1989. In the time of its inception, this program had name the Department of Shariah. In 2000, it had transformed to become the Study Program of Ahwal Syakhshiyyah. Nine years after, based on the Regulation of the General Director of Islamic Education, March 22, 2019, the Study Program of Ahwal Syakhshiyyah had changed to be the Study Program of Islamic Family Law.
Due to its new name and nomenclature, the academic degree that will be achieved by graduates of the program is Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with specialism in Islamic Family Law.
Since October 31, 2015, based on the Regulation of the Council of the National University Accreditation No. 1122/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/X/2015, this program had been granted the Level A National Accreditation. Because of this level of accreditation, the program strategically had urged its students to become the best scholars and experts in the country.
However, since July 7, 2020, based on the Regulation of the Council of the National University Accreditation No. 3804/SK/BAN-PT/AK/S/VII/2020, again, the program achieved the best rank (A). Now, the program has struggled to become the best study program (with special field of study in Islamic Family Law) in Southeast Asia.
