The Faculty of Islamic Religion organized a Work Competency Certification Implementation Training (PSKK) with the competency scheme of Halal Slaughterer and Zakat Manager. This event took place at GKB 2, 5th floor, over two days, on Friday, May 5, 2023, for the Halal Slaughterer material, and on Saturday, May 6, 2023, for the Zakat Manager material. The participants in this training were selected students from four study programs within FAI, UMM.
The event began with a speech from R. Tanzil Fawaiq Sayyaf, the head of the organizing committee, who explained the purpose and target of the event, which was attended by students from FAI UMM. "The PSKK Training aims to provide knowledge on the materials to be tested and to increase employment opportunities," explained Tanzil.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Khozin, M.Si, Dean of FAI UMM, who advised all participants to understand the material presented by the instructors so that they could gain the necessary competencies to compete in the global job market. "The opportunity to work in Japan is very large, but not many people can seize this opportunity because they lack the competence and skills in fields required by companies in Japan. This opportunity could be a chance for FAI UMM students, so through this activity, students can improve their potential and knowledge related to proper slaughtering techniques, as Japan places great importance on halal and hygienic food," said the Dean of FAI UMM.
The training was designed to align with work competency standards, aiming to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to perform tasks effectively and efficiently. Holding a work competency certificate provides several benefits for students. The increasing demand for skill strengthening and mastery today is one of the reasons why students should possess competence. These competencies must be owned by students so that they can be recognized as experts in their field. One of the tools used to measure how well these skills are mastered is through competency testing based on work competency standards.
To achieve these goals, students were provided with a series of competencies relevant to Islamic studies. One strategy to achieve this is through conducting training. This activity will result in a standardized Work Competency Certification. The event involved experts and practitioners in the field to assist in the competency testing. The opening of the event concluded with a prayer led by Arif Zuhri, Lc. M.H.I, the head of the HKI Study Program. (LA)
