The Student Association of the Islamic Family Law Study Program (HMPS HKI) successfully held a series of activities for the New Student Training (DIKMABA) HKI 2022. The event took place on December 17-18, 2022, at the Bima Sakti Children’s Social Rehabilitation Center in Batu City. DIKMABA HKI is an agenda designed for new HKI students to enhance their potential, enabling them to become academicians capable of directly contributing to the development of Indonesia's national law, particularly in the field of Islamic family law.
The DIKMABA HKI 2022 activities began with an opening ceremony. The event was attended by Abdul Rosyid, the Student Governor of FAI, accompanied by Muhammad Hafid Ridho Maulana, the Chairperson of HMPS HKI, and Ahmad Miqdad Faqihuddin, the Chairperson of DIKMABA HKI 2022. In his speech, the Student Governor of FAI emphasized the importance of DIKMABA as a supporting activity for the Student Day program organized by the Faculty of Islamic Studies. He expressed his hope that through DIKMABA, new HKI students would become intellectual and progressive individuals.
Throughout the program, participants were provided with three core materials: Organizational Skills, Leadership Supporting Professionalism, and Social Media Ethics. Additionally, there were activities such as introductions to HKI lecturers and intra-campus organizations within FAI, as well as entertainment such as art performances, group exercise, and competitions to strengthen their solidarity.
The first material in DIKMABA focused on Organizational Skills. It was delivered by Alvin Najmi Maulana, Chairperson of the FAI Student Senate 2021, who is also a 2019 HKI student. Alvin elaborated on the essence and importance of student organizations, including the development of soft skills, teamwork, and networking opportunities. He encouraged new HKI students to balance academic intellectuality with non-academic skills for their future benefit.
Furthermore, he outlined the structure and roles of Muhammadiyah’s autonomous organizations, student organizations within the UMM campus, and intra-campus organizations within the Faculty of Islamic Studies.
The second session covered Social Media Ethics, presented by Mr. Muhammad Arif Zuhri, Lc., M.H.I., the Head of the HKI Study Program. This material aimed to equip DIKMABA participants with the knowledge to use social media wisely and in accordance with Islamic values. It was hoped that participants would leverage their social media as platforms for da'wah and education, particularly on Islamic family law issues.
During the session, Mr. Arif Zuhri also emphasized the importance of maintaining ethics, especially in interactions with the opposite gender. He advised HKI students to uphold Islamic ethics and values in their daily lives, in addition to mastering Islamic law learned through their studies.
The final material focused on Leadership Supporting Professionalism. The session featured Faozan Azima Sembahulun, S.H., S.H.I., an HKI alumnus from the 2012 cohort who is now a practicing advocate. Known as "Mas Faozan," he emphasized that the foundation of leadership is knowledge. A good leader must build their leadership on a foundation of knowledge, as ignorance can lead even the best team members to failure. Knowledge, he stressed, is the key to success.
This material aimed to help new HKI students manage themselves and develop leadership qualities to achieve their aspirations and professional goals. It also introduced them to career prospects in Islamic Family Law, inspiring them to hone their talents and intellect early on to achieve a bright future.
One of the most engaging sessions was the introduction to intra-campus organizations within the Faculty of Islamic Studies. These included the Faculty of Islamic Studies Student Executive Board (BEM FAI), Faculty of Islamic Studies Student Senate (SEM FAI), and the Islamic Family Law Student Association (HMPS HKI). This session built on the earlier material on Organizational Skills, allowing participants to learn about the structures, visions, missions, and programs of these organizations.
Participants showed great enthusiasm in exploring information about these intra-campus organizations. This session aimed to motivate them to develop their non-academic skills through involvement in student organizations. It also provided an early overview for participants before the recruitment of intra-campus organization members.
Through this event, it is hoped that DIKMABA participants will be inspired to develop their potential further, both academically and non-academically, and prepare themselves for active contributions to society and the field of Islamic family law.
