Center of Excellent

INTRODUCTION
Higher education should be an institution that produces quality graduates to accelerate the nation's economic growth. This can be achieved by producing professional graduates who are quickly absorbed into the workforce, aligning with the competencies required by the business and industrial world (DUDI)/industry and the labor market (IDUKA), or by becoming skilled entrepreneurs who can create wide job opportunities in line with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang responds to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the needs of stakeholders through various policies, one of which is the UMM PASTI policy launched in 2018, which ensures students graduate on time and secure employment. Under the UMM PASTI policy, all UMM graduates are expected to finish their studies on time and possess competencies that align with IDUKA needs. In line with this, at the beginning of 2020, the Ministry of Education and Culture implemented a new policy in higher education through the "Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM)" program, which provides students with opportunities to gain broader learning experiences and acquire new competencies through activities outside their study programs.
To support the continuity of UMM PASTI and the MBKM program, UMM provides a system to guarantee the growth and development of graduate quality that can respond to IDUKA demands. One of the MBKM policies is facilitating students' learning rights for 3 semesters outside their major program. Through this scheme, students are conditioned to do at least four things: a) autonomously determine the learning experiences they will undertake, b) think and act across disciplines (interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary), c) develop hard skills and soft skills, and d) enhance learning experiences outside of classroom activities. With these four objectives, university graduates are expected to face the realities and challenges in the fields of science, IDUKA, and societal dynamics.
Based on this, the Islamic Family Law Study Program at UMM has responded by providing an excellent program called the Center of Excellence (CoE) "Corporate Law School". This CoE program equips students with the learning outcomes to produce graduates who are excellent and competent in the field of legal services for corporations, both in theory and practice. Therefore, CoE students will be equipped with various competencies, including the ability to draft, design, manage legal documents, and solve legal issues faced by companies. This program is designed not only to offer theoretical learning but also to provide fieldwork experience and is led by internal lecturers and practitioners. Additionally, it is hoped that participants of the CoE program will be recruited and accepted for employment before graduation.
