Friday, November 17, 2023. In Surabaya, the Islamic Family Law Study Program at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, expanded its collaboration by partnering with Lazismu East Java. This partnership is a collaboration between the study program and the zakat management industry. Therefore, the HKI Study Program signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lazismu East Java, attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UMM, the Head of the HKI Study Program, and accompanied by Zakat Assessor Mrs. Idaul Hasanah, M.H.I.
According to Arif Zuhri, the Head of the Study Program, this collaboration between the study program, which offers education in zakat management with National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) certification, and the industry is of great importance. First, this collaboration ensures that the curriculum developed by the study program is truly relevant and responsive to the rapidly growing needs of the zakat industry. Through input and cooperation with practitioners and experts in the zakat industry, universities can update the curriculum and align course materials with practical demands and regulatory changes in BNSP-certified zakat management.
In addition, this collaboration allows students to engage in practical and applicable experiences that meet BNSP certification standards. Internship programs, project collaborations, or partnerships with certified zakat institutions offer students the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. This provides valuable experience that enhances students' practical skills in managing zakat according to recognized certification standards.
Beyond providing direct opportunities for students, this collaboration also benefits the zakat industry. Graduates from programs related to BNSP certification will enter the job market with skills that have been validated and aligned with industry standards. They will not only be prepared to meet the growing needs of the zakat industry but will also be trained in the critical aspects expected by zakat companies or institutions that require expertise in accordance with certification standards.
In the context of BNSP-certified zakat management, the partnership between the study program and the industry forms a strong alignment between education and job market demands. This collaboration ensures that graduates possess skills that are relevant and compliant with nationally recognized professional standards. Ultimately, this collaboration also creates opportunities for innovation, knowledge development, and quality research to continuously improve the professional and effective management of zakat according to BNSP standards.
