Malang, Friday, October 6, 2023. In preparation for students to graduate on time, the Islamic Family Law (HKI) Study Program of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (FAI-UMM) organized a thesis writing workshop for students in their sixth semester, or the class of 2020. The goal of this workshop is to implement the university's program, "Tri Pasti UMM" (Guaranteed Timely Graduation, Guaranteed Employment, and Guaranteed Independence).
The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FAI-UMM, Dr. Pradana Boy ZTF, Ph.D. In his remarks, he explained that the purpose of the thesis writing workshop is to provide clear guidance and support to students who are preparing their thesis.
One of the main objectives is to provide a comprehensive guide on practical steps in writing a thesis, from formulating a title, identifying research methods, to preparing the final report. The workshop is expected to offer a deep understanding of the standards required in thesis writing, both in terms of structure and content, as well as help students overcome the challenges they may encounter during the writing process.
In addition, the workshop aims to facilitate collaboration between students and their thesis advisors. By bringing together students and advisors in a structured environment, it is hoped that more intensive and productive dialogue will be created. This allows students to receive more accurate feedback and focused guidance from their advisors, thereby strengthening the substance and quality of the thesis they are working on.
The workshop is also intended to enrich students' knowledge of current research in their field of study. By introducing students to relevant and innovative research, it is hoped that they will be inspired and gain new perspectives to apply to their own thesis work. Through interactions with fellow students, opportunities for sharing knowledge, experiences, and resources that may be useful for thesis writing will also arise.
Overall, the workshop aims to serve as a supportive platform for students, not only in completing their thesis but also in enhancing their research, analysis, and writing skills. By providing comprehensive guidance, facilitating interactions between students and advisors, and introducing students to the latest research, this workshop strives to prepare students to complete their thesis successfully and make meaningful contributions to their field of study.
The speakers included Mr. Jamal, M.Sy., who is currently a Doctoral candidate at UIN Malang, and Mr. R. Tanzil Fawaiq Sayyaf, M.H., a lecturer at HKI UMM and part of the Faculty of Islamic Studies' Tim Percepatan Kelulusan (Graduation Acceleration Team).
