Malang, 2024 – Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), through its Islamic Family Law Study Program in the Faculty of Islamic Studies, has launched an innovative program called the Center of Excellence Corporate Law School. This program is designed to prepare students to face the complex challenges of corporate and business law in the era of globalization. Conducted during the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, the program combines theoretical and practical approaches, with a particular focus on Contract Law and Security Law courses.
The program is organized in strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) Malang, marking a significant step in bridging the gap between academic legal education and the practical needs of the industry. This collaboration aims to produce graduates who not only possess an in-depth understanding of legal theory but are also equipped to face the realities of the professional legal world.
The courses on Contract Law and Security Law, the program’s primary focus, are taught by a team of experienced legal practitioners and internal university lecturers. This team is led by Hatarto Pakpahan, SH., MH., CLA., Dr. Fitria Dewi Navisa, M.H., and Jamal, S.Ho., M.Sy.. The diverse backgrounds of these instructors ensure that students receive a comprehensive perspective, integrating academic insights with practical field experience.
Innovative teaching methods are a hallmark of the program, highlighted by the adoption of a hybrid learning system, where theoretical classes are conducted both offline and online. This approach not only enhances flexibility for students but also prepares them to adapt to modern work environments that increasingly rely on digital technology.
The learning outcomes established for these courses reflect the program's ambition to holistically prepare students. Upon completing the courses, students are expected to not only understand and explain the fundamental concepts of contract law and security law but also apply this knowledge in analyzing real-world cases. They will be equipped with a deep understanding of general principles of contracts, types of contracts, sources of obligations, the termination of obligations, and various forms of security in civil law.
Through the Center of Excellence Corporate Law School, UMM and PERADI Malang are paving the way for a new generation of legal professionals. By blending academic rigor with practical expertise and embracing the opportunities of the digital era, this program is poised to produce graduates who are ready to excel in the global legal landscape.
