The Student Association of the Islamic Family Law Study Program (HKI) at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), proudly organized the Islamic Law Competition (ILC), a prestigious event combining academic, sports, and non-academic creativity competitions. The event was scheduled after HKI students completed their Midterm Exams, running from Sunday, December 1, 2024, to Sunday, December 15, 2024, exclusively for Islamic Family Law students from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts.
According to Hamdan, a 2022 HKI student and this year’s ILC Chair, the primary goal of ILC is to foster solidarity and unity among cohorts within the Islamic Family Law student community. "In campus life dynamics, a harmonious relationship among students is a crucial foundation for creating a supportive and inclusive academic environment," he explained.
This year’s ILC concept focuses on accommodating and developing the interests and talents of Islamic Family Law students, both in sports and academics. As a platform to channel their potential, this event provides an opportunity for students to showcase their abilities competitively and professionally.

These diverse competitions and activities aim to not only hone students' skills but also enrich their experiences and confidence to compete at higher levels.
Hamdan expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiastic participation of students in the event. “Alhamdulillah, they are very excited about the ILC agenda, from sports competitions, non-sports competitions, to debates. Each competition promises thrilling and impressive rivalries, making it a memorable experience. Additionally, the number of participants is substantial and evenly distributed across the 2022, 2023, and 2024 HKI cohorts,” he said. He also noted that the event’s timing, after the completion of the odd-semester Midterm Exams, contributed to its success.
Hamdan hopes that the ILC will highlight and nurture the diverse potentials and talents of HKI students. "This activity is essential as a bridge to connect various student talents while creating a collaborative space that supports their self-development," he stated. Through the ILC, students are encouraged to actively demonstrate their abilities and contribute to the development of the study program.
Hamdan further emphasized the goal of the event to identify and cultivate new talents from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts. "We aim to instill values of collaboration, sportsmanship, solidarity, and professionalism through this agenda," he added.
The 2024 Islamic Law Competition stands as proof that collaboration, enthusiasm, and creativity among HKI students can create impactful events. With an extraordinary concept and enthusiasm, this year’s ILC is not just a competition but an inspiration for all students.
