On Thursday, May 25, 2023, the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus conducted a benchmarking agenda to the Islamic Family Law Study Program (HKI) at FAI UMM. The visit from the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus aimed to prepare for the accreditation of the Islamic Family Law Study Program at the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus. The delegation, consisting of 11 members, was warmly welcomed by Dr. Saiful Amien, M.Pd, Deputy Dean 2 of FAI UMM, and M. Arif Zuhri, Lc., M.H.I., the Head of the HKI Study Program at FAI UMM.
The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Saiful Amien, who said, "It is an honor for us to have the visit from the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus, who have come to build connections with us through benchmarking with the accredited Excellent HKI Study Program at FAI UMM. We hope to collaborate on academic activities that support the advancement of both the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus and FAI UMM."
The speech was followed by remarks from the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus, represented by Junaidi Abdullah, S.Ag., M.Hum., Deputy Dean 2. Junaidi explained that the purpose of this benchmarking was to gain insights on preparing accreditation documents according to the required standards to achieve Excellent accreditation, as well as to serve as a platform for collaboration in research and visiting lecturers between study programs. By conducting benchmarking, the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus aims to identify areas of accreditation preparation that need improvement and to find ways to achieve the highest possible accreditation level, Excellent.
It is important to note that benchmarking in education is an agenda where a study program conducts continuous self-evaluation by comparing itself to other institutions that are considered the best. This allows the institution to identify, adopt, and apply better academic and administrative practices.
H. Fu'ad Riyadi, Lc., M.Ag., Head of the Islamic Family Law Study Program at IAIN Kudus, also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the HKI Study Program at FAI UMM, which graciously accepted the visit of the IAIN Kudus delegation. He also thanked the program for sharing their experience in preparing for accreditation and for conducting a visiting lecturer session on the same day in the courses of Introduction to Law and Introduction to Indonesian Legal System in the second semester.
At the end of the event, Dr. Khozin, M.Si, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UMM, joined the guests to welcome them to the Faculty of Islamic Studies at UMM. He expressed hopes that both institutions would continue to collaborate in academic efforts. It is hoped that the benchmarking visit by the HKI Study Program from the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Kudus would support the accreditation preparation and bring benefits to the academic interests of both study programs.
